THE FLOWERY PUNK - ERIN VERA HYDE
Erin Vera Hyde, from Kelsall, Cheshire is currently studying a degree in Fine Art at Leeds College of Art and Design. Alongside her interest in Art, Erin is extremely passionate about music and particularly inspired by the British Punk scene that exploded from London in the 1970's. Her customised union jack t - shirts are definately reminiscent of the Punk style adopted by bands such as The Sex Pistols and created by legendary designer, Vivienne Westwood.
Although Erin is a Punk at heart, she cannot help but bring a little floral feminine innocence into her creations by accessorising with fake flowers.
"i am quite interested in quaint english ideals and typical "british" themes influence my designs, whether it be our interest in gardens and our nations obsession with drinking tea; or our youth culture, such as the punk and mod movements"
Erins'extreme "Anarchy" and "Flower Power" design concepts are clearly very contrasting. However, her handmade t - shirts, jewellery and accessories are tasteful, very kitsch, and a little tongue in cheek.
Erin Vera Hyde will be selling her unique creations, alongside vintage pieces at the Utility Vintage Market, held in the City Bar, City Road, Chester on Saturday, August 15th 2009.
